## Suggested Questions And Answer :

### How to solve this ratio

The question doesn't give a ratio, so we'll just answer the question using symbols. A ratio is usually shown as two numbers separated by a colon like this A:B, where A and B are the two numbers. Let's take an example. The ratio of boys to girls in a class is A:B. This means that there are N(A+B) students in all, where N is a number. Let's say there are 22 students in the class, and the ratio of boys to girls is 5:6. Add 5 and 6=11, so A+B=11. 11N=22, so N=2. What fraction of the class are the boys? The number in the ratio for boys is 5, so 5/11 of the students are boys, that's 5/11 of 22=10. 6/11 of the class are girls, that's 6/11 of 22=12. 10+12=22, the number of students. So we can convert a ratio into fraction: A/(A+B) is the fraction of boys and B/(A+B) the fraction of girls. The number of boys is (A/(A+B))*N(A+B)=A*N; the number of girls is similarly B*N. The total number of students is A*N+B*N=N(A+B). You can apply this conversion of ratios into fractions and actual numbers in all sorts of problems dealing with ratios. Here's another example. In a survey X people voted YES, Y people voted NO, and Z people couldn't decide, where X, Y and Z are given numbers. If P people were surveyed, what is the ratio of the people responding YES, NO and UNDECIDED? Here we have three classes of people so the ratio will look like x:y:z, where x, y and z are the numbers in the ratio. The total number of people is P=N(x+y+z). The fractions are x/(x+y+z), y/(x+y+z) and z(x+y+z). The numbers of people are Nx, Ny and Nz. But we know the actual numbers of people X, Y, and Z, so X=Nx, Y=Ny, Z=Nz, and, of course, X+Y+Z=P, the total number of people. But the fractions are also given by the actual numbers: X/P, Y/P, Z/P or X/(X+Y+Z), Y/(X+Y+Z), Z/(X+Y+Z), so the ratio could be expressed X:Y:Z. So we ignore N for the time being. Now let's work on an example. 750 people are surveyed. 375 voted YES, 300 voted NO and the rest were undecided. So X=375, Y=300. What is Z? Add X and Y: 675, so the rest is 750-675=75=Z. The ratio (first attempt) is X:Y:Z=375:300:75. Now, here's the trick. 75 goes into all these numbers so let's divide it: 5:4:1. That's the ratio in its neatest form, so x=5, y=4, z=1. (N=75.) In some problems percentages may replace fractions, so in the case of the survey, 375/750 or 5/(5+4+1)=1/2 or 50%; 300/750 or 4/(5+4+1)=2/5 or 40%; 75/750 or 1/(5+4+1)=1/10 or 10%.

### I need help with math a lot. I have a test on cyber school remaining right now! Can you please hurry and get this done fast before 1 hour is up?

You haven't given a specific question, but, if it helps, you can write a ratio as a fraction. a:b is the same as a/b. You can "cancel down" a ratio just the same as cancelling down a fraction, by dividing a and b by a common factor. Examples: 7:28 is the same as 1:4; 21:35 is the same as 3:5; 27:45 is also the same as 3:5. The fractions 7/28, 21/35 and 27/45 all cancel down in the same way. But ratios are not limited to two numbers: 2:6:10 is the same as 1:3:5. For ratios consisting of just two numbers, don't forget you can convert them to fractions. Another rule about ratios is, if you see a question like: the ratio of boys to girls in a class is 2:3 and there are 15 students in a class, how many girls are there? You add the ratio numbers together so 2+3=5, then divide the number of students by this number: 15/5=3. The ratio is telling you that 2/5 are boys and 3/5 are girls. 15/5 represents 1/5. To get the number of boys multiply 3 by 2 (2/5) and to get the number of girls multiply 3 by 3 (3/5). So that's 6 and 9, which of course add up to 15. ANOTHER EXAMPLE A farmer has sheep, cows and pigs in a certain part of his farm. The ratio of these in order is 16:13:7. If he has 180 animals in this area, how many of each type of animal does he have? Add the ratios: 36. Divide this into the number of animals: 180/36=5. Now multiply the ratio numbers to get the numbers of each animal: 5*16=80 sheep; 5*13=65 cows; 5*7=35 pigs. Add these together=180 animals.

### How do I find the probability?

To find the probablility, take the number of whatever you're comparing it to then put that number over the number in all (fraction form). Example: There are 10 girls in Ms. Burns's class and 13 boys. There are 23 students in all. To find the probability of girls to the number of students in all, put the number of girls (10) as the numerator in a fraction or ratio type, then put the number of students in all as the denominator (23). Answer:  10/23 or 10:23 or 10 to 23. But if you want an answer like:most likely, likely, unlikely, probably, just see if the number of girls is  (for example) half of the amount of students in all and if it is higher than half, it's mostly likely or likely and if it's less than half, it's less likely or unlikely and if it is about half,  it's probably. #smart

### what is a part to whole ratio???

Part to whole ratio is the numerator is part of a set and the denominator include the total.  For example, 10 girls and 15 boys in a math class.  The ratio would be 10 to 25 because it is 10 girls and 25 students in all.

### the ratio of the number of boys to the number of girls in a school is 5:7. If there are 600 students in the school, how many girls are there?

The ratio 5:7 means that out of 12 pupils, 5 are boys and 7 are girls; so in 600 (50*12) there are 5*50 boys and 7*50=350 girls.

### There are 10 girls and 20 boys in a class. If half of the girls and half of the boys have blue eyes. Find the probability that one student chosen as moniter is either a girl or have blue eyes?

If a student is chosen at random we have 4 possibilities: Boy blue eyes (10) Boy non-blue eyes (10) Girl blue eyes (5) Girl non-blue eyes (5) The probabilities associated with these are: 10/30, 10/30, 5/30, 5/30; or 1/3, 1/3, 1/6, 1/6. There are 15 students with blue eyes and there are 10 girls. The probability of picking a girl is 10/30=1/3; the probability of picking a blue-eyed of either gender is 15/30=1/2. The probability of picking a blue-eyed girl is 5/30=1/6. So if it's one or the other, but not both, we add 1/3 and 1/2 and subtract 1/6 because the probability 1/2 already includes blue-eyed girls, so we don't want to account for them twice. 1/3+1/2-1/6=4/6=2/3.
